The Beginning

Daryl’s journey began in 5th grade (11 years old), April 2009, when after a regular school clinic check-up, he came home with a slip from the school nurses informing us that they detected he had scoliosis. Needless to say, this came as a big surprise to us. Within the same week, we took him to a local hospital and got an x-ray done on his spine. The results showed that he had a 20° curve. At this stage, we were told there was not much we could do except to take an x-ray every 6 months to monitor the situation. Thus began Daryl's journey with Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS).
